Description
The Belgrade Rowing Club was founded on June 6, 1922, and on March 4, 1945, it became one of the founders of the Red Star Sports Association and has been called the Rowing Club Red Star ever since. Црвена звезда.
The Club building, one of the most beautiful buildings of this type, built in 1935, was designed by the Russian architect Valery Stashevsky, in the then wild surroundings of Ada Ciganlija. The members of the Club were many prominent Belgraders, including Andra Žeželj, Ivo Andrić, Miloš Crnjanski. The Club has been under the auspices of the Karađorđević royal family from June 8, 1922 until today. As of 2018, the Club has been organizing the Prince Stefan regatta, dedicated to Prince Stefan Karađorđević.
Поред врхунских резултата, Клуб је посвећен популаризацији веслања – организатор је бројних манифестација – Веслам за своју школу, у сарадњи са РТС-ом чији се директан пренос прати у Србији и окружењу, Новогодишњи крос, Ергонаут.
It is estimated that over 20,000 people rowed for the Club, of which 3,500 represented the Club in the national teams of the Kingdom of SCS, FNRY, SFRY, FR Yugoslavia and the Republic of Serbia, at European and world championships and the Olympic Games.
У немирним временима, док су се мењала државна уређења, границе, беснели ратови и кризе, Веслачки клуб Црвена звезда – Београд одржао је стогодишњи континуитет, успео да окупи бројно чланство на постулатима фер плеја, личног залагања, одговорности и изврсности, да освоји бројне медаље, учествује у изградњи нашег друштва и допринесе одрастању сто генерација Београђана.
